Morrissey Las Vegas shows have been canceled, but the former Smiths frontman says the decision was due to circumstances beyond his control.
Morrissey was scheduled to begin a four-show run at Wynn Las Vegas on Friday. News of the canceled performances emerged over the weekend, prompting the singer to address what happened on his Morrissey Central website.
In a post titled “MORRISSEY DOESN’T CANCEL VEGAS,” Morrissey said the performances could not take place because of “logistical reasons outside of Morrissey’s control.”
The canceled Las Vegas dates follow another disrupted Morrissey performance earlier this year.
In March, Morrissey was scheduled to perform in Valencia, Spain. He said that music from a local techno festival left him in a “catatonic state” after he arrived in the city. Morrissey later said the Valencia concert had been made impossible because of sleep deprivation.
At the time, Morrissey maintained that the performance had not been canceled, saying instead that circumstances had made the show impossible.
Following the Morrissey Las Vegas shows being canceled, the singer is currently scheduled to return to the stage in September for Riot Fest in Chicago.
