Fans of heavy metal have something new to look forward to as Tony Iommi new solo album, From the Dark, is set for release on Oct. 23. The project marks the legendary Black Sabbath guitarist’s first solo album in more than 20 years.
From the Dark was recorded with vocalist Jorn Lande, bassist Becky Baldwin, and drummer Karl Brazil. Speaking about the project, Iommi said the group had a great time creating the record.
“It’s an album we’ve really enjoyed making. We’re not trying to prove anything – it’s a great album, it rocks!”
Along with announcing the Tony Iommi new solo album, Iommi also released the first single, “World Alone,” which is now available alongside an official music video on YouTube.
The upcoming release is Iommi’s first solo effort since 2005. During that time, he reunited with Black Sabbath to record the band’s final studio album, 13, released in 2013, before completing the group’s farewell tour in 2017.
In 2025, the original Black Sabbath lineup—Tony Iommi, Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward—performed together one final time during the Back to the Beginning concert. Ozzy Osbourne passed away just over two weeks after the historic reunion.
